Delicious

I went on to Delicious and started looking around and the different sites that they had for bookmarking. At first I thought that is something that I would never use. Then I got into the travel section and found sites for buying plane tickets that I have never seen before. We are always looking for the cheapest tickets that we can find since we now have to buy them for the kids also. I found a site called www.skyscanner.com that I have never seen before. I checked out the prices and did not find any deals for right now but I think that it will be good to compare prices with this website in the future. I have so little free time to search for fun things on the website that I can not see myself using delicious in the future but I think maybe in another life I could have a lot of fun finding out about new things.

Farm

Final Project Proposal

Purpose of your Podcast.
The purpose of this podcast is to introduce students to the farm. In a few weeks students will be taking a trip to the farm. We will be learning about the different things that can be found on the farm. We will also be discussing the different things that we eat or that we use everyday that can be found on a farm. We will learn where each one of these items comes from on a farm and how they get to us.

Podcast Description
This podcast is being created for my Head Start class. My students are three and four years old. I will be making a podcast every four weeks for them to watch. We change our topic that we are learning about every four weeks. I will be the one making the podcast. My students are very young to have that be an expectation for them to participate in making the video. How ever there could be pictures of them in the podcast. I will make this video between two and three minutes long. That is about all the attention span that students have this age when watching a video in my classroom. The format of this video is a lecture. Many of my students have no concept of what a farm is so I would like to give them an idea before we start working on the unit.

State/Local standards.

Head Start does not have any state or local standards.

I really liked using the program Animoto. I took the regular pictures that one can take and turn them into a great video that the children would love to watch. I can not believe that the pictures that I hang up in my classroom every year turned out to be that nice. I think that adding the music made it even look more professional. I think that many other teachers that I work with would think that I bought this video instead of creating it myself out of the scraps of pictures I have of animals tucked away in a file cabinet. I used the Picnik program on two different pictures. I used it on a picture of a peacock on sharpen the picture and I also cropped it. I also used the same program on a pride of lions. I cropped one lion in the pride and that lion is the only one that shows in the final picture. I really liked adding my own music that I picked out. I had no idea that there was such a thing as free music that we could use. I thought that we would have to buy it.

Dear Ann,

Hello. My name is Laura Cruz. I teach in an early childhood program in the Omaha area. This is my first year teaching in the program. I graduated from Peru State College last year in May. I have two small children at home who keep me very busy. I have to run away from home so I can get my homework done.

I have very little experience with technology. I send emails and have online classes but that is about all that I do with the Internet. I would call myself a PC person but I really like the looks of a Mac I just don't like to use them. I use no technology in the classroom. I work in a portable and the Internet goes in and out so we don't use it. This computer says that I am using Office 2003.

I really wanted to get my Master's degree while my children were still small. I came back to Peru because the program is very quick to get all of the classes done. It is also cheaper than most of the other schools that I was looking to attend.

Sincerely,
Laura Cruz
